Dual Diagnosis Treatment – Our Specialty
Dual diagnosis evidence-based trauma-informed treatment is our specialty. We work with individuals experiencing PTSD, trauma, depression, anxiety and more.
Medical and clinical professionals have a term for people who have both a mental heath issue (such as PTSD, depression, trauma, anxiety and more) and an addiction problem (Alcohol Use Disorder or Substance Use Disorder).
Whole Person Addiction Treatment Philosophy
Our addiction treatment philosophy addresses and treats the Whole Person – Mind, Body, and Spirit. We believe that addiction is a complex but treatable disease. And, that no single addiction treatment is appropriate for everyone.
Each patient receives a biopsychosocial assessment and personalized treatment plan.
Programs for Veterans – Dual Diagnosis PTSD, Trauma
New Start Recovery Solutions is an approved VA Community Care provider for Veteran Residential and Outpatient PTSD Dual Diagnosis Addiction Treatment.
We provide behavioral health and addiction recovery treatment for veterans and those in the military. We are in-network with TriWest.

Programs for First Responders
Firefighters, police, EMS and other emergency services providers are seldom called on to rescue cute kittens from trees. On a daily basis, first responders see accident victims horribly injured or burned, rescue survivors crushed in crumbling buildings, fight overwhelming forest fires, pull residents from burning buildings. Or they may be called on to defuse situations ranging from domestic disputes to a hostage crisis.
We provide behavioral health and addiction recovery treatment for First responders.

Functional Alcoholism and High Functioning Addicts are a problem in all professions. With functional (high-functioning) alcoholism or drug addiction – the individual continues to go to work every day.
In the beginning, the work performance of a functional alcoholic or addict does not show significant impairment.
In some cases, alcoholism or addiction can continue for years in without much adverse notice in the workplace. However, the addiction cycle with all its negative impacts on physical health – and family relationships – is still operating full force.
This will continue until the addict experiences a DUI, DWI or serious workplace accident. Or, until the addict finally experiences a major health event and is carried out on a stretcher.
Programs for Professionals
Impaired professionals are found in all professions. Any intense work environment with pressure to perform is at risk for development of burn out, mental health and substance abuse issues.
Professions that experience high levels of anxiety, depression, functional alcoholism and substance abuse include:
• Attorneys
• Doctors and Medical Professionals
• Airline Pilots and Flight Attendants
• IT Professionals
M.A.T. Addiction Treatment for Opioid Recovery
New Start Recovery Solutions uses MAT Medication-Assisted Therapy in opioid and fentanyl addiction treatment.
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a whole patient approach to the treatment of opioid use disorders. Medications used in MAT are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Our M.A.T. programs are dual diagnosis – which means mental health care and addiction treatment. New Start Recovery Solutions addiction rehab treatment treatment is clinically driven and personalized to meet each patient’s needs.
Research shows that a combination of medication and therapy can successfully treat opioid use disorders. For individuals struggling with opioid addiction – M.A.T. is the best treatment to establish long-term recovery.

Detox – The First Step in Addiction Recovery
You (or your friend or loved one) have resolved to stop using drugs or alcohol. Congratulations! This is the first step to regaining sobriety and the importance cannot be underestimated.
Now, detox from the addictive substance/s must occur. Recovery support begins with detox from drugs and alcohol.
The right detox program helps individuals through physical withdrawal symptoms and provides the medical assistance needed during this rough time.
Is Quitting on Your Own Harmful?
Depending on the individual’s history of abuse and medical and physical conditions – the severity of detox effects will differ.
However, the risks of detox for all serious drug and alcohol users can be dangerous. Detox should never be attempted alone. A sudden stop of drug and alcohol use can lead to seizures, heart attacks and strokes. In severe cases, unsupervised detox can even cause death.
A safe and comfortable detox gives patients the confidence needed to face their addiction issues – and begin addiction treatment.
Studies have shown that for long-lasting addiction recovery after detox – individuals benefit most by entering an inpatient or outpatient addiction rehab treatment program.
Treatment needs to be readily available. Because drug-addicted individuals may be uncertain about entering treatment, taking advantage of available services the moment people are ready for treatment is critical. Potential patients can be lost if treatment is not immediately available or readily accessible. As with other chronic diseases, the earlier treatment is offered in the disease process, the greater the likelihood of positive outcomes. Principles of Drug Addiction Treatment: A Research-Based Guide (Third Edition)
It is good to enter detox and remove harmful substances. But if after detox the individual immediately returns to substance or alcohol abuse – then detox was only a temporary solution to address the physical discomfort from an ongoing addiction.
Medical detox is one of the first steps in our continuum of care at New Start Recovery Solutions.
